Carina Marais

Head of Legal

BComm, LLB

Since 2004 I worked as a paraplanner at the offices of several financial services providers. Until the legal world within this industry opened its doors to me; someone quietly determined to make a difference – not in courtrooms filled with drama, but in the often unseen, deeply human side of the law: drafting of wills, or as I see it, creating contracts that carry the weight of people’s final wishes, and the subsequent administration of that deceased estate.

Working in this role within an Independent Financial Advisors office, my days are never predictable, but seen in the bigger picture, meaningful. While others might chase headlines or prestige, I look for purpose.  My work is often invisible to most; I am not a headline-maker or courtroom star; I don’t wear tailored suits or speak in theatrical objections, but I help families navigate loss, ensure legacies are protected, and give people peace of mind in some of their most vulnerable moments.

What started as a role rooted in process and paperwork evolved into a vocation built on trust and guidance. I am a steady hand in times of grief, and a quiet protector of what matters most to others.

I truly believe that behind every client is a story, behind every document, a family – and behind every career, a calling.
